The swing works great as a starter swing. However the strap is more of a danger than a safety precaution. Everytime my son fell out the strap made it worse than just falling into the ground. He's 2 so we just don't use the strap and it's been a lot safer for us. Because he doesn't get hung up on it etc when accidents happen, plus he can get out If he wants. Over all a great swing it's what I expected I would purchase againHaven't had long enough to notice rust or anything like that
