Although the primary audience is adults (teachers or group leaders of kids), there is no reason why younger people can't enjoy the projects.Curt has worked for years with "at-risk" and rough kids--kids falling through the cracks. The techniques and materials described are useful for after school or home school students. The hands on activities are a useful exposure to science and, more importantly, the tinkering provides successful experiences that build confidence.When I was a little kid, an aunt used to provide me with broken mechanical alarm clocks to "fix." I was quite good at tearing them apart (not so good at putting them back together). Years later, I went to college and became an electrical engineer. I honestly believe that exposure to this type of "tinkering" helps a child learn about herself and her world.If you want to help kids, pick up a copy of this book--you won't be disappointed.The content of this book is wonderful. Fantastic and awe inspiring tinker projects. The problem that I had with this book is that it is not particularly attractive to kids. The pages aren't attention getting. There are not a ton of pictures. This is fine for older kids and adults, but trying to get my tinker happy 9 year old to open it and get excited about the book was not that easy. Once you start a project, things look up.Even from a young age my grandson showed an interest in making things that worked, so that it carried him beyond Legos. This was the perfect book for him to refer to in order to get involved with a hobby that teaches him about how the universe is organized and what is possible to make in order to pursue his passion.As others said. It would be good if images came in color.I liked the ideas in the book, but for a 10 year old, some pictures inside would have been nice.really liked the activities, would've been good if pictures were in colorWish the pictures are in color.This book was ruined by poor print quality which made the black and white photos hard to make out. I also didn't find the projects particularly inspiring - I'd have preferred more that involved at least a little electronics.bought kindle edition and extremely surprised how poor formatting is.Does anyone in amazon technical team knows anything about proper document formatting? almost every picture size of 5 square millimeters.You must be kidding me? Please don't buy kindle version, until they learn how to proper implement it.the content nevertheless is pretty descent, but all the joy spoiled by hard to follow miniature photos....This book looks like fun and I am looking forward to "tinkering" with my grandkids.Using this book to inspire ideas and projects with cub scouts. Looks like fun and give fairly simple instructions.Love it! Thanks
