My son received a sleeping bag for a gift. He needed a compression sack to make it fit in his backpack. This bag is just the right size for the sleeping bag, and it compressed it down to a manageable size.I purchased the XL just a few days ago, so I have not had the chance to take it out and kick it around the woods or swing an axe at it just to see if it will withstand being kicked around the woods or having an axe swung at it. What I can tell you, is that after packing my sleeping bag in it and compressing it a few times, that I love it, and it will do it's intended job.I have a Big Agnes Elk Park -20 sleeping bag, which is a big sleeping: Shoulder Girth 80.5in / Hip Girth is 75in / Foot Girth is 66in, and will fit someone who is 6' 6" tall (copied from Big Agnes' website). The stuff sack it comes with is 12" x 23". So, in short, it's a big sleeping bag. It fits perfectly in the XL bag. It won't compress all the way though, as you can see from the pictures, which I know some will be incredibly disappointed and say the manufacturer needs to go back to the drawing board, but that is just fine with me. I'm sure if I wanted to give a little more force I could compress the Elk Park all the way. The overall compressed length with the BA Elk Park inside it is right at 16", kind of hard to tell from the pic, so subtract 2" and that puts you right at the max compression with this bag inside if I pushed it all the way to the end. You can see the bartacked stitching, and it does its job in keeping the stress points from ripping apart. The only thing I could say to make the stress points stronger is to use full box stitching, but this is nicely done and works. I did put some force into it at the end just to test them out, and I saw no issue with the stress points. The bag compressed very easy all the way up to the end before ANY amount of force was required. The material itself is very light weight, but you can tell by the feel of it that it is quality material and construction.I will be purchasing another one of these bags for my wife's sleeping bag, and I am quite certain the M would work, the L would probably give her room to throw in a blanket or two.As someone who has used, and destroyed, a lot of compression sacks and stuff sacks, I would buy this one again and again with confidence. I look forward to kicking it around the woods on my next outing very soon.I'm a novice backpacker on a budget, which means a lot of my gear is bulky and synthetic. It also means I'm always looking for cheaper, more durable gear. This compression sack addresses both problems!I have a These are easy to use and great for compressing your tent or sleeping bag to take up less space. Very durable, but I haven't tested it's water resistance. It's not lightweight, these are made of some very durable material. It's great for replacing the bag your tent came in to make packing easy. Just shove the rain fly in, followed by your tent and then groundsheet, cinche up the bag and then compress it all. No more guessing on folding and rolling the tent, just shove it in and scrunch it up. I do keep my poles and pegs in a separate bag.It compresses sleeping bags quite well too and keeps the dust and dirt off them. Only compress your sleeping bag for travel through and do not store your bag compressed. The fluffiness of your bag is what keeps you warm, so be sure to fluff it up and store it uncompressed so it will keep you warm.I got the medium for a Big Agnes diamond park 0° sleeping bag and it was the perfect size. 9” x 20” is the size of the stuff sack that came with the sleeping bag, but that one didn’t compress. So I got the size medium here (9” x 20” also) and it worked great. Compressed down to just under 10” x 13” including the bulging. This compression sack feels like much better material than others you see. It’s not a thin tent-like material. It’s more similar to goretex. So I feel good about the durability though I haven’t really used it yet. Material resistente.Contras:Pesado.No es contra agua.Correas sin ebillas de liberación rápida.I own a bulky, cold weather sleeping bag that I've always had a hard time bringing along as, in it's original sack, it is wider than my rucksack. Finally decided to get this compression sack in XL, and I'm incredibly happy with it.Solid construction, great compression, and easy to use. It now fits in my ruck.Attached pictures show the uncompressed sack size, compressed size, and diameter. Hope you find it useful. I purchased two sizes small & medium and they cam in on different dates with the small one first. I wanted it to pack my sleeping bag to make it smaller than the factory bag. My bag fit in the small with a lot of work and wondered if it would be better in the medium bag. Once the medium arrived I packed my sleeping bag in it and was surprised that it compressed better with the medium. The bags are well built. I couldn't find if they were waterproof but someone else suggested a plastic bag to make sure. I have a rain cover for my pack so I think I am good with it. I would buy again. I will use the small bag to put clothes in and compress it down.Excellent quality, heavy duty. Packs my already small sleeping bag into half the size I could get with the old bag that it came with. The old bag actually ripped from trying to compress but I do not think this Alps could rip so easily... I can really crank down on it with confidence. I also like the little pocket which I used to shove the little data sheet of my sleeping bag specs. Would definitely buy again.UPDATE: Found one small flaw. The compression straps are attached to a side flap preventing the bag from compressing past the flaps. I would be able to compress my bag further of the compression straps ran closer to the ends of the bag. But my blanket is pretty small. I wish Alps made a XS bag about 2/3 this size.
